Description

These Nachos Cheese Beef Wraps combine seasoned ground beef, melted cheddar cheese, and classic nacho toppings wrapped in a warm flour tortilla for a delicious, handheld meal. Perfectly seasoned with taco spices and loaded with fresh salsa, sour cream, diced tomatoes, jalapeños, and crunchy tortilla chips, they offer a fun twist on traditional nachos in a convenient wrap form.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Mixture

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning mix
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Wrap Components

  • 8 large flour tortillas
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 cup crushed tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Cook the Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks to ensure even cooking.
  2. Season the Beef: Drain any excess fat from the skillet. Stir in the taco seasoning mix along with 1/4 cup water. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens and the flavors meld.
  3. Warm Tortillas: Heat the flour tortillas until they become pliable either by warming them in a dry skillet briefly or microwaving for about 20 seconds.
  4. Assemble the Wraps: Lay each tortilla flat and spread a layer of shredded cheddar cheese on it. Add a scoop of the seasoned ground beef, then top with salsa, sour cream, diced tomatoes, jalapeños if using, chopped green onions, and crushed tortilla chips for crunch.
  5. Roll the Wraps: Carefully roll each tortilla tightly into a wrap, securing the fillings inside.
  6. Optional Crisping: For a melted cheese and crispy exterior, place the wraps seam-side down in a skillet over medium heat. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until the cheese melts and the tortilla is golden brown and crisp.
  7. Serve: Remove the wraps from the skillet and serve immediately, optionally accompanied by extra salsa or guacamole for dipping.

Notes

  • To adjust spiciness, omit or increase jalapeño quantity according to preference.
  • Using flour tortillas helps with flexibility and rolling; corn tortillas might tear.
  • For added texture, you can add a light layer of refried beans before layering the beef.
  • These wraps can be prepared in advance and lightly toasted just before serving.
  • Substitute cheddar with pepper jack for a spicier cheese variation.
