Ingredients
Scale
Beef Mixture
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 packet taco seasoning mix
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Wrap Components
- 8 large flour tortillas
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup salsa
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup diced tomatoes
- 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños (optional)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1 cup crushed tortilla chips
Instructions
- Cook the Beef: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks to ensure even cooking.
- Season the Beef: Drain any excess fat from the skillet. Stir in the taco seasoning mix along with 1/4 cup water. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes until the mixture thickens and the flavors meld.
- Warm Tortillas: Heat the flour tortillas until they become pliable either by warming them in a dry skillet briefly or microwaving for about 20 seconds.
- Assemble the Wraps: Lay each tortilla flat and spread a layer of shredded cheddar cheese on it. Add a scoop of the seasoned ground beef, then top with salsa, sour cream, diced tomatoes, jalapeños if using, chopped green onions, and crushed tortilla chips for crunch.
- Roll the Wraps: Carefully roll each tortilla tightly into a wrap, securing the fillings inside.
- Optional Crisping: For a melted cheese and crispy exterior, place the wraps seam-side down in a skillet over medium heat. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until the cheese melts and the tortilla is golden brown and crisp.
- Serve: Remove the wraps from the skillet and serve immediately, optionally accompanied by extra salsa or guacamole for dipping.
Notes
- To adjust spiciness, omit or increase jalapeño quantity according to preference.
- Using flour tortillas helps with flexibility and rolling; corn tortillas might tear.
- For added texture, you can add a light layer of refried beans before layering the beef.
- These wraps can be prepared in advance and lightly toasted just before serving.
- Substitute cheddar with pepper jack for a spicier cheese variation.
