Description

This Honey Soy Crispy Beef and Noodles recipe offers a deliciously crispy beef paired with tender noodles tossed in a flavorful sweet and savory sauce. Perfect for a quick yet impressive Asian-inspired main course, it combines fresh ginger, garlic, and a mix of honey and soy for a balanced, mouthwatering dish.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef and Coating

  • 12 oz flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • ¼ cup cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Noodles and Sauce

  • 8 oz noodles (lo mein, udon, or spaghetti)
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Garnish

  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles: Prepare the noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain them well and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Prepare the beef: Pat the flank steak slices dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness. Toss the beef slices evenly with the cornstarch to coat completely.
  3. Fry the beef: Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. In batches if necessary, add the coated beef slices in a single layer and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on each side until they turn crispy and browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Sauté aromatics: Lower the heat to medium. In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and grated ginger. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant, making sure not to burn them.
  5. Make the sauce: Stir in the soy sauce, honey, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and crushed red pepper flakes if using. Allow the sauce to simmer gently for about 2 minutes until it slightly thickens.
  6. Toss noodles and beef: Return the cooked noodles and crispy beef back to the skillet. Toss everything together to coat the noodles and beef evenly with the sauce. Cook for an additional 1 to 2 minutes until everything is heated through.
  7. Garnish and serve: Remove from heat and garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, let the coated beef sit for 10 minutes before frying to help the cornstarch adhere better.
  • You can substitute flank steak with sirloin or ribeye for a different texture and flavor.
  • This dish reheats well but is best enjoyed fresh to maintain the crispy texture of the beef.
