Ingredients
Scale
Filling
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup blueberry compote (or blueberry jam)
- 1 tbsp lemon zest (optional)
Wontons and Coating
- 1 package wonton wrappers (about 12-15 wrappers)
- Cooking spray or oil for spraying the wontons
- ¼ cup sugar (for coating, optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Mixture: In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Fill the Wonton Wrappers: Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each wrapper.
- Add Blueberry Compote: Spoon a small amount of blueberry compote on top of the cream cheese mixture in each wrapper.
- Seal the Wontons: Brush the edges of the wonton wrapper with a little water. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle or seal the edges into an envelope shape. Press firmly to ensure the edges are sealed and no filling escapes during cooking.
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and allow it to preheat.
- Prepare for Air Frying: Lightly spray the filled and sealed wontons with cooking spray or brush with a little oil to promote crispiness during air frying.
- Air Fry the Wontons: Arrange the wontons in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Cook for 5-7 minutes or until the wontons turn golden brown and are crispy.
- Cool and Coat: Remove the wontons from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. If desired, dust them with sugar for extra sweetness and crunch.
- Serve: Serve warm with additional blueberry compote or fresh berries on the side for dipping or garnish.
Notes
- Make sure to seal the edges of the wontons tightly to prevent filling leakage during cooking.
- Using cooking spray or oil helps achieve a crispy texture without deep frying.
- Blueberry compote can be substituted with any fruit jam or preserves of your choice.
- For an extra touch of flavor, lemon zest adds brightness to the filling but is optional.
- This recipe makes about 12-15 wontons depending on the size of your wrappers and the amount of filling used.
- Serve immediately after cooking for the best texture and taste.
